Meter Reader

Overview

We are hiring METER READERS in your postcode now; no experience is required.

• Collect metering data from gas, electricity and water meters for commercial and residential properties.
• Enter readings accurately on handheld devices during each visit.
• Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment and charge‑point surveys.
• Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
• Maintain a professional, friendly approach to customers.

Part‑time, 30 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday–Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8 am and 8 pm.

• £13.23 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).

• Manual UK driving licence (minimum 1 year, max 6 points, no DR offences) – licence not required in some London areas.
• Physically fit; able to bend, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch and walk 4–5 miles a day.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
• Credit report check – no county‑court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded in the last 6 years.
• At least 5 years employment history.
• Previous customer‑service experience (preferred but not essential).

One‑week training combining classroom and field work with an experienced meter reader.
