Fire protection systems keep guests safe and the parks operating. As a Senior Fire Systems Engineer, you will work with teams to design, analyze, and maintain advanced fire protection for Walt Disney World’s attractions, parks, restaurants, and resort facilities, ensuring compliance with fire codes, safety standards, and Disney’s rigorous quality requirements.

The primary responsibilities include providing engineering support for both capital and sustaining projects across Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts.
- Work on a variety of facility assets that support amusement facilities
- Accountable for fire detection and alarm, automatic sprinkler, water‑based fire protection (water supplies and fire pumps), smoke control and management systems, means of egress and crowd evacuation, commercial cooking protection, special hazards protection, life safety systems, building automation and controls, and explosion protection
- Operate in an environment requiring broad engineering knowledge in codes, hazardous materials, gas alarm systems, elevator and ride safety, pyrotechnics, OSHA, and general safety
- Field engineering support; technical input for inspection, testing, and maintenance
- Investigation, root cause, and failure analysis
- Design systems, including calculations, drawings, and submittals
- Review designs from project teams for accuracy, compliance with Disney standards, and quality completeness
- Recommend system improvements, enhancements, and replacements
- Proactively interface and consult with lines of business, engineering services teams, and project managers to provide world‑class engineering support
- In‑depth knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA Codes and Standards
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit
- 7+ years of experience in fire protection design or consulting
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with theme parks, resort hotels, or mixed‑use facilities
- Knowledge of modeling tools for fire and smoke spread and timed egress analysis (CFD, Pyro Sim, Pathfinder)
- Experience with code and standards development, including committee involvement (e.g., NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, FBC)
- Experience with fire testing and regulatory application of fire test methods to building materials
- Experience with testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems
- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering field - Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field

CompensationThe hiring range for this position in Florida is $–$ per year. Base pay is adjusted for internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and/or long‑term incentive units may also be offered in addition to the full range of medical and other benefits.
