SiteSafety & Health Officer (SSHO) Location
Lake Charles / Jennings Area, Louisiana
Position OverviewWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety compliance on active construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, particularly with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant job site.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and enforce site-specific safety and health plans
- Ensure full compliance with EM 385-1-1 safety standards
- Conduct daily safety inspections and hazard assessments
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports
- Coordinate with project management and subcontractors to ensure safety protocols are followed
- Respond to and investigate incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Must reside in or near the Lake Charles / Jennings area
- EM 385-1-1 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) certification required
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required
- CPR / First Aid certification required
- Prior experience working on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong construction background with proven safety oversight experience
- Ability to work independently and enforce compliance on-site
- Willingness to work occasional weekends as project needs require
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to identify risks and proactively implement solutions
- Salary Range $70,000- $80,000
