To assist the Director of Education in maintaining quality training in accordance with the Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter Training Center merit shop philosophy and to improve the workforce of member companies by recruiting students. In addition, the Workforce Development Manager will work with partnering high schools, member contractors, State Department of Education, Parish Directors of Career and Technical Education, and other organizations that could potentially affect and assist in the recruitment and development of a trained workforce for member contractors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a current directory of partnering high schools, their administration and their instructors of career and technical education.
  • Recruit new high school programs and member contractors into the partnership program.
  • Establish a working relationship and recruit organizations that have potential students.
  • Maintain a current list of all Parish Directors of Career and Technical Education for schools partnering with the Pelican Chapter.
  • Coordinate high school events (BYF and craft competitions)
  • Maintain a system for tracking high school students attending the ABC Pelican Training Center.
  • Responsible for all NCCER documentation in coordination with other staff.
  • Assist in tracking of attendance of students.
  • Assist in the interviewing and hiring of training center instructors and staff.
  • Attend Career Fairs at area high schools.
  • Assist with evaluating instructors.
  • Assist in improving classroom instruction and strategies.
  • Meet with member companies about training opportunities and concerns.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Work in the construction industry, high schools, or college career counseling or similar areas in workforce development.
  • Other requirements:
    Working knowledge of Microsoft products, construction knowledge and effective communication skills.
