Our client is seeking a skilled professional to ensure the maintenance, repair, and modification of stamping tooling and related equipment. This role is essential for maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes. If you have hands‑on experience in tooling repair, welding, and troubleshooting, this opportunity is for you.
Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, and repair stamping tooling used in punch press operations.
- Perform basic welding (MIG/TIG/stick) to repair tooling and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues affecting product quality, accuracy, or machine performance.
- Assist with tooling changeovers and setups as needed.
- Modify or fabricate tooling components using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve tooling and process issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling to minimize downtime and extend tool life.
- Read and interpret tooling drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Measure and verify tooling dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tooling area.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the plant operations.
- Direct work with manufacturing machinery in a safety‑sensitive environment.
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures typical of manufacturing operations.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in production areas.
- Physical activities include bending, walking, standing, stooping, crawling, and climbing.
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and ability to adjust focus.
- Flexibility to change schedule and work hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- High school diploma or GED; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in tooling, tool & die, stamping, or related manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of roll forming processes and tooling preferred.
- Basic welding experience required; certification is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with CNC or manual machining.
- Familiarity with steel, aluminum, and coated materials used in roll forming.
- Experience with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Effective communication skills with vendors and all organizational levels.
- Self‑motivated, problem‑solving capabilities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in mathematical operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions with common sense understanding.
