Summary
Third of six levels in the Health Services series. Incumbents coordinate and administer health services for assigned populations. Responsibilities may include administering medications, first aid, medical tests and vaccines; scheduling medical tests and procedures; maintaining records and reports; teaching First Aid and CPR; planning, coordinating and implementing health clinics; educating clients, the public, and staff on health‑related topics; ordering supplies; completing reports;
and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, rules, and regulations. Incumbents may supervise staff.
- Provides medical care to the community, ranging from simple to complex, which includes providing emergency first aid, treating illnesses and injuries, administering vaccines, scheduling medical tests, performing urine screens, and dispensing medications.
- Prepares, files and/or retrieves a variety of records, reports, and/or related documentation including patient information, paperwork, court papers, certifications, and/or other related documents.
- Coordinates and facilitates a variety of health‑related training sessions, classes, and certification courses.
- Maintains inventory, equipment, and supply levels; orders supplies when levels are low.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- All core class duties listed previously, plus:
- Provides specific psychiatric screening and assessments using established tools. Coordinates psychiatric scheduling with Advance Practitioner clinics.
- Provides direct coordination of Advance Practice clinics for medical patients specifically related to presenting cases for clinic cases.
- Provides ongoing tracking of treatments and tests for complex medical and psychiatric patients.
- Provides assistance to current staff for emergencies, staffing needs, medication passes, and other duties as assigned.
- All core class duties listed previously, plus:
- Provides care in multiple care areas including juvenile and adult inmates and employee clinic patients.
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities of lower‑level employees. However, this position may assist Director of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and Medical Director in assisting with coordination of the following: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
RequirementsEducation and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), completion of Licensed Practical Nurse training and two years’ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse.
Preferred Phlebotomy and IV Certification
Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
