Description Of Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing provider support as applicable and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families under the direction of the provider. This position supports the Practice Director and Manager in coordinating and leading practice personnel to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the delivery of patient care services. The RN will perform duties within the scope of practice, ensuring consistency with Memorial Medical Group policies and procedures, standards of care, approved protocols, standing orders and guidelines.
The RN will also adhere to practice standards governed by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Reports directly to Office Manager
Responsibilities And Duties- Demonstrates competency in administering medication.
- Follows evidence‑based policies and procedures to guide nursing practice.
- Understands and appropriately responds to the cultural variables that professionals and patients bring to interactions.
- Evaluates ethical challenges and their potential impact on patient quality of care and the nurse’s professional role.
- Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Interprets and implements provider orders.
- Competently performs or assists with routinely performed procedures.
- Educates patients and families, and documents appropriately.
- Documents accurately according to department policy.
- Makes suggestions and recommendations for improved operations.
- Receives patients from the waiting room, escorts them to the exam room, and prepares them for exam.
- Obtains and records intake information in the patient medical record.
- Observes universal precautions and aseptic techniques with patient and the use of instruments and equipment.
- Reports and records patient critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to provider.
- Performs computer order entry in the Clinic Information System and documents in EMR.
- Graduate of School of Nursing.
- Current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or compact state license as Registered Nurse.
- BLS-CPR Certified.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; ability to learn quickly, analyze problems and communicate effectively with superiors, peers, and others on a one‑to‑one basis.
- Requires emotional stability and resilience; must be adaptable to change, decisive, and demonstrate foresight.
- Possesses basic problem‑solving skills.
- Work requires standing and walking for sustained periods, bending and stooping, and some lifting of 50‑100 pounds.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Many nursing skills require acute hearing ability, e.g., listening with a stethoscope to breath and heart sounds.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, families, peers and medical personnel.
