Lake Charles Memorial Health System seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide physical patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
SupervisionReports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities and Duties- Demonstrate competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
- Provide physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity).
- Communicate abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc.) to appropriate staff.
- Collect information regarding patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake.
- Consistently utilize basic decision‑making skills to complete routine tasks.
- Participate in best practices in a consistent and positive manner; huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and the use of white boards.
- Collaborate with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
- Utilize unit‑specific equipment competently.
- Competently perform unit‑specific procedures.
- Be knowledgeable of and actively participate in implementation of the Unit PI plan.
- Make suggestions/recommendations for improved operations.
- Understand and appropriately respond to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patients/individuals bring to interactions.

Education and Work Experience- High school graduate/GED preferred; prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may be used as a substitute for the education requirement.
- Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
- CPR certified preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers, and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Requires emotional stability and maturity; must be adaptable to change, decisive, and demonstrate foresight; exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
- Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non‑emergency situations.
- May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
