POSITION INFORMATION:This is a part-time, 12-month, unclassified staff position. The appointment is available immediately.

The Clinical Simulation Lab Specialist will be the support person that will coordinates and maintains all the clinical simulation labs. Responsibilities include keeping labs stocked, equipment maintained and ensures a positive learning environment for students.

Duties include:
  • Ensure supervision of students in the lab, maintaining safe practices and abiding by all established policies and procedures for the lab
  • Schedule clinical simulation labs to meet instructional needs. . Maintain adequate supplies for all scheduled clinical labs
  • Coordinate equipment needs, use, replacement, and repairs to meet faculty teaching needs and student learning needs. Examples include:
    • Changing all equipment batteries as needed
    • Maintaining adequate supplies and place in storage including PPE for faculty, students, and staff
    • Launder or replace wet or soiled linens
    • Ensure all new student clinical lab MSU backpacks are prepared prior to the beginning of each semester
    • Educational bulletin boards are changed out every semester in labs
    • Ensure all simulation equipment are replaced as needed
    • Ensure faculty demonstration or supply kits are available
    • Coordinate with organizations for donations of supplies or equipment for needed clinical skills items
    • Arrange transport of equipment as needed
    • Participate in activities that promotes the clinical simulation labs
    • Coordinate cleaning/decontaminating activities of clinical labs including cleaning, stripping, and waxing of clinical lab floors
    • Remove/replace Sharps containers in clinical labs
    • Ensure clinical simulation labs are well kept, neat, and non-cluttered
  • Assist students with foundational skills in the practice labs
  • Offer and monitor service hours for students in the laboratory
  • Help facilitate, troubleshoot, set up and clean up simulations, checkoffs, laboratory activities
  • Work with faculty and simulation committee to advance simulation and work on future simulation initiatives
  • Assist with development, evaluation and revision of policies and procedures related to clinical simulation labs for the CONHP
  • Inventory supply of stock, and obtain quotes for needed stock replacement on a semester-to-semester basis to ensure the CONHP is cost effective in maintaining clinical lab equipment
  • Serve as professional role model for students in the CONHP
Other:
  • Represent the CONHP and University in a professional manner
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Simulation Co-Coordinators, Department Head-Undergraduate Nursing, CONHP, Dean, or University Administration
  • Minimum of an associate degree in a nursing field; bachelor’s degree in a nursing field preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
