American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery day-shift position requiring AWHONN or NCC electronic fetal monitoring certification.
Requirements- Active RN license (LA state or compact)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Current certification in AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Perinatal RN Residency or recent perinatal setting experience preferred
- Labor & Delivery unit caring for deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and newborn initial assessments
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment
- Weekend rotation required
- No call requirement
- No floating required
- Follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio standards: 1:1 for Pitocin induction/augmentation, 1:2 for cervical ripening, 1:2-3 for antepartum and triage, and 1:1 for immediate postpartum care
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process across assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocol and monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education
- Navy blue or pink scrubs required
- New hires are precepted by a designated staff member with required competency validations completed during onboarding
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Previous CHRISTUS Health System employees must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a travel assignment
