Water Quality Student Intern

Position

Water Quality Program Student Intern Field Technician – Lake Charles, TX.

This long‑term internship is ideal for science majors seeking hands‑on experience in water quality.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting field work: collecting water quality samples and performing field measurements.
• Assisting in preparation of water permit applications and other compliance documents.
• Performing data analysis and maintaining/developing spreadsheets.
• Preparing basic reports.
• Adhering to a flexible weekly schedule that accommodates school commitments.

• College coursework in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biology, Agriculture, or Fisheries.
• Completion of required safety and on‑the‑job training.
• Meeting all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements, including possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Availability to travel within the Lake Charles area and use a company vehicle; minimum age 21 with a clean driving record and ability to safely operate a full‑size pickup truck.
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Preferred experience in collecting water samples.
• Organized, able to prioritize tasks, manage changing deadlines, and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professional communication skills and ability to maintain client relationships.
• Strong teamwork orientation and eagerness to excel individually and with a team.
