Purpose

The Aircraft Mechanic Helper assists certificated technicians in the repair, maintenance, or modification of aircraft components, including dismantling, repairing, assembling, and the exchange and replacement of electrical equipment or components. This is an entry-level position working under the supervision of the Lead Aircraft Technician and Aircraft Maintenance Manager.

This is a developmental role with an ongoing pathway to pursue an FAA Airframe Certificate testing authorization or enrollment in an FAA Part 147 program, at your own pace. There is no fixed time limit on this role, and there is no requirement to pursue further certification in order to remain a Helper. Continued employment remains subject to standard performance, conduct, and attendance expectations.

This position reports to the Aircraft Operations Manager and works under the direct supervision of certificated personnel to support the on-time, airworthy re-delivery of aircraft.

Responsibilities Maintenance Support
  • Assist certificated technicians in the inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft and removed aircraft components in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Repair Station and Quality Manual (RSQM).
  • Operate shop equipment used in the manufacture and fabrication of aircraft and interior components.
  • Become familiar with and follow the requirements of the RSQM, FARs, Airworthiness Directives, advisory circulars, and manufacturer service bulletins. Never begin any maintenance unless in possession of the proper, current, and applicable approved or acceptable data.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Perform proper tagging of components, parts, and panels and ensure they are appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft).
  • Perform documentation procedures and sign-offs in accordance with the RSQM and respective task requirements.
  • Maintain the work area to the highest standards of safety and housekeeping, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents.
Shop & Communication
  • Ensure tools, GSE, and ground equipment are correctly used, handled, and returned to proper storage after use.
  • Maintain close, frequent communication with the Lead Technician, notifying them of progress and any roadblocks that could impact re-delivery.
  • Support the highest quality, safety, and on-time re-delivery of airworthy, clean aircraft, and take part in required company training and development programs.
Requirements Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least 2 years of industrial mechanical or electrical process experience (or trade-school completion), OR current enrollment in an FAA Part 147 Aircraft Maintenance Technology program.
  • Proficient in oral and written English (able to read, understand, and apply maintenance manuals, work instructions, and safety documentation).
  • Holds a current, valid driver’s license, where required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check and pre-employment and applicable DOT/FAA drug-and‑alcohol screening, including periodic random testing (safety-sensitive position).
Preferred
  • Enrollment in an FAA Part 147 Aircraft Maintenance Technology program (bridge to the Aircraft Apprentice track).
  • Aircraft maintenance experience on current fleet types maintained or modified by the Repair Station.
