Summary
Community Living Center has a vacancy for a Registered Nurse - Clinical Educator in Lake City, FL. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for providing evidence‑based education to staff and delivering educational instruction and training for nursing staff in clinical and outpatient units. This role requires understanding of instructional design, implementation, and application related to education and training.
Qualifications- English language proficiency as required by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f)
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by an accreditation agency (ACEN or CCNE) or a graduate of a masters‑level bridge program equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or Washington, DC; or credential equivalent for foreign graduates per VA Handbook 5005 Appendix G6 (including International Consultants of Delaware equivalency evaluation)
- Possession of required licensure or qualification for temporary appointment as Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) with a 120‑day temporary appointment, potentially extendable up to two years; or grandfathering provision for current VHA 0610 series employees as of 1/29/2024
- Grade/level scope education and dimension criteria as described in the VA qualification standard (see online assessment)
- Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing Education; five years of current successful clinical experience in a Community Living Center or equivalent; one‑year or more experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator in a similar unit or academic teaching/clinical supervision; certification in nursing education or related specialty (CNE, NPD) - Knowledge of evidence‑based teaching practices, curriculum development, simulation design and technology, regulatory knowledge and compliance (e.g., Joint Commission standards), and BLS certification by the American Heart Association or Military Training Network

- The Clinical Nurse Educator focuses on individual growth and development with increased self‑direction
- Provides educational instruction and training for nursing staff in clinical and outpatient units
- Demonstrates clinical and instructional expertise in assessing, developing, delivering, coordinating, and evaluating learning activities for nursing staff and nurse residents to meet orientation, regulatory training, and continuing education needs
- Collaborates with nursing leadership and peers to develop competencies, support evidence‑based research, oversee quality improvement, and maintain safety and quality standards
- Serves as a Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor and participates in check‑offs for other services based on facility needs
- Serves as a clinical mentor/preceptor, promotes specialty certification through education, provides formal/informal training, facilitates classes, and provides clinical supervision of staff, students, and residents; consults in patient care, infection control, and research
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support and evaluate emergency response readiness (BLS and ALS)
- Supports nurse residency programs, including curriculum development using simulation, lecture case studies, and virtual reality
- Develops proficient coaching and mentoring skills; evaluates current practice and formulates outcomes for patient groups or organizational processes within area of expertise
- Collaborates with other Clinical Nurse Educators and interprofessional teams in ongoing education activities (in‑services, training, competency assessment, and evaluations of staff nursing skills)
- Reviews current nursing literature for new trends and recommends changes in practice and documentation based on evidence‑based research
