First‑McNess Company is hiring a full‑time Maintenance Mechanic for our Lake City, FL location.
Work Schedule- 5‑Day Workweek, 8‑hour shifts, 40 hours per week (with available overtime as needed)
Starting Pay:
Compensation will be determined by relevant experience and the interview process.
Pay Type:
Hourly rate with overtime pay, paid bi‑weekly.
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on plant equipment, facilities, and grounds to support safe, efficient warehouse operations. This hands‑on role works independently and as part of a team to minimize operational downtime, improve reliability, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in a manufacturing and agricultural environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production, packaging, and warehouse equipment, vehicles, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical (including basic 3‑phase), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Support fabrication, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and minor construction or modification projects as needed.
- Maintain maintenance records, preventive maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
- Safely operate and maintain tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, lifts, and other equipment.
- Complete facility and grounds upkeep tasks as needed (lighting, painting, snow removal, general repairs).
- Follow all safety guidelines, wear required PPE, apply lockout/tagout procedures, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, productivity, or compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in maintenance, welding, electrical, or related trades preferred.
- 2 years of maintenance mechanic experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or agricultural environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate equipment issues clearly.
- Forklift certification preferred; willingness to obtain required equipment certifications with company support.
- Willingness and ability to work both indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions throughout the year.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks in an industrial environment.
