The Accountant I is a key part of the Accounting team. The position is responsible for reconciling activity directly or indirectly related to financial activity within the assigned business unit. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Compiles financial data to aid management and other accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Prepares and processes journal entries as needed to clear or reclass account activity.
  • Collaborates and shares responsibility in facilitating and completing month‑end close procedures to prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Compiles information/reports and gathers related documentation for internal/external auditors and management in various departments in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with other departments including loan operations, deposit operations, and production locations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare account reconciliations related to cash, loan balance accounts, suspense accounts along with various other types of accounts.
  • Analyze reconciliation activity and identify/research reconciling items.
  • Escalate/communicate reconciliation findings to management.
  • Prepare account reconciliation procedures and cross‑train with others in the reconciliation process.
  • Train Accounting Specialists on procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills and

Competencies:
  • Knowledge of accounting principles based on GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Detail oriented and organized in work and ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Self‑starter with a positive attitude, good organization, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Basic understanding of bank and account reconciliations.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced and agile environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
  • Proficiency in an accounting ERP system(s) preferred.
Industry and

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Financial institution accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting functions, practices, and procedures.
Academic:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Pay Range: $24.04/hr - $33.66/hr for candidates located in CA.
