Title: Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman (Mobile) 3rd shift 11p-7a
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Job Summary:
Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman (Mobile) is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles, such as front‑end loaders, forklifts, golf carts, trucks and off‑road heavy equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Diagnoses and identifies vehicle malfunctions.
- Inspects, repairs, and replaces defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons, and gears.
- Performs preventative maintenance (PM) as assigned through the PM program.
- Performs stick welding and cutting with oxy‑acetylene.
- Performs minor electrical repairs and installations such as replacing starters and motors up.
- Documents repair findings and gives feedback on job plans to planner.
Interacts with CMMS for parts checkout, job closure, equipment documentation, and general equipment info. - Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.
- Observes all safety rules and regulations. Inspects safety of shop area, tools and plant areas where jobs are ongoing.
- Must understand and follow all QMS (Quality Management System) requirements and registrations (Powders Only).
- Maintain competence in the use of precision tools, such as micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, and feeler gauges.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in improvement activities.
- Operate equipment maintained, such as Load‑All, forklift, skid‑steer, dump truck, etc.
- Will actively participate in all training and skills development opportunities.
Experience:
- Must meet the written and hands‑on assessment requirements for this position.
- Must pass computer assessment.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures, AIQ processes, and similar documents).
- Must be available for call‑in maintenance.
- Must be able to read and understand shop manuals, parts, diagrams, schematic drawings and blueprints.
- Basic industrial electricity knowledge and the ability to perform minor electrical repairs.
- Willingness to attend classes and seminars to enhance mechanical skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently.
- Physical endurance to withstand the following: repair and maintenance of mobile equipment, lifting equipment components, loosening large nuts and bolts, positioning equipment, etc.
- Must be able to hear radio and telephone communications.
- Must meet all physical requirements of the position.
