This position is for our Lakeland Village Clubhouse in Lake Elsinore located at 16275 Grand Avenue Lake Elsinore 92530.

Start Date
: ASAP.

Monday through Friday 1:00PM-6:30PM

Fridays (once a month)

Mandatory Training 10:00AM-12:00PM

JOB SUMMARY:

The Youth Development Professional’s number one priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth members. The YDP plans and implements structured educational, social, athletic, and recreational programs and activities of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County for young people predominantly between the ages of 6 and 14. The YDP understands and implements the mission and core values of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program
  • Implement programs, services, and activities according to the Outcome-Driven Club Experience and overall mission and strategic plan of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.
  • Organize and conduct programs following established program guidelines & activities.
  • Orient new members to their designated group as directed.
  • Promote enrichment activities and encourage participation by members.
  • Provide formal and informal guidance to the members.
  • Assist with supervising volunteers.
Safety and Facility
  • Ensure the wellness and safety of all members by following the guidelines set forth by the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.
  • Keep all equipment in good repair and ready for use.
  • Regularly scan areas for hazards or broken equipment and report them to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Keep all Club areas clean and orderly.
  • Abide by and enforce Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County rules and policies.
  • Required to complete the Child Safety trainings on Spillett Leadership University before working with youth.
Professional Development
  • Required to complete all three tracks of the Training Tracks program according to the following schedule:
    • Track 1 completed within 60 days of hire.
    • Track 2 completed within 120 days of hire.
    • Track 3 completed within 180 days of hire.
  • Required to attend all program training provided by BGCSWC.
  • Complete all mandatory Spillett University courses annually.
  • Complete other Spillett University courses as assigned.
Other
  • Must be available Monday through Friday during regular program hours.
  • Must be available to assist at other locations as needed.
  • May be transferred to other locations permanently as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
  • CPR & First Aid certified within 60 days of hire.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

REQUIRED:
  • Two-year degree in psychology, social work, education, sociology, or a related field preferred. High school degree required.
  • Establish positive and productive working relationships; able to generate trust; ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback. Demonstrates competence and character that inspires trust.
  • Good judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style, high integrity, tact, a positive attitude.
  • Experience working with young people in a group setting (internships, student teaching and volunteer work may be acceptable).
  • Decision making, planning, organizing, communicating, and analyzing skills required, as well as the ability to lead educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities in small and large group settings.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORK ENVIRONMENT:
