A well-established Food & Beverage manufacturer is seeking an Electrical Controls Programmer to support and optimize high-availability production and process systems. This role sits at the intersection of electrical maintenance and advanced automation, with direct impact on plant uptime, safety, and production efficiency.

Position OverviewThe Electrical Controls Programmer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial control systems supporting conveyors, batching, and process equipment. The role supports daily operations while also contributing to continuous improvement, system upgrades, and automation best practices in a food-grade environment.
Key Responsibilities- Program, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell; Schneider Electric)
- Perform online edits and controlled changes in live production environments
- Support and maintain HMIs (Factory Talk View, Eco Struxure, or similar)
- Maintain and optimize conveyor, batching, and process control systems
- Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and industrial instrumentation
- Support VFDs, MCCs, sensors, and feedback devices
- Assist with industrial networking troubleshooting (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet exposure preferred)
- Partner with maintenance, operations, engineering, and IT/OT teams
- Perform root-cause analysis and support preventive maintenance initiatives
- Work within GMP, FDA, USDA, and food-safety regulated environments
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms
- Working knowledge of Schneider Electric PLCs
- Experience supporting VFDs, motor control, and conveyor logic
- Understanding of batching, processing, and recipe-based control systems
- Ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues under production pressure
- Basic industrial networking knowledge (IP addressing, Ethernet protocols)
- Comfortable working safely inside control panels; knowledge of LOTO and NFPA 70E concepts
- Food & Beverage, CPG, or regulated manufacturing background
- Exposure to motion control or servo systems
- Experience with SCADA or plant-wide automation
- Familiarity with sanitary design and washdown environments
- Background transitioning from maintenance electrician into controls/automation
- High-impact role supporting critical production systems

Pursuant to California law, the salary range for this position is up to $105,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors permitted by law, including experience, education, training, and internal equity.
This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement benefits, subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements.
