The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining EVR’s fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and rental assets to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive trains, brakes, steering, and other mechanical components.
The position plays a key role in minimizing equipment downtime and keeping rental equipment ready for customers. The position requires strong diagnostic skills, attention to safety, accountability for quality workmanship, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced equipment rental environment.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, drivetrain, brake, and steering systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Repair and maintain excavators, skid steers, backhoes, loaders, lifts, tractors, trucks, trailers, and other rental equipment.
- Identify safety concerns, equipment damage, excessive wear, and potential failures before equipment is returned to service.
- Complete repairs efficiently to minimize equipment downtime and maintain fleet availability.
- Perform pre-rental and post-rental inspections as needed.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records, including parts and labor used.
- Communicate equipment condition, repair needs, and anticipated downtime to management and rental staff.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe maintenance area.
- Properly care for company tools, diagnostic equipment, shop equipment, and inventory.
- Assist with field service calls and emergency equipment repairs when required.
- Follow manufacturer recommendations, company maintenance procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
- Support other team members and contribute to a cooperative, customer-focused work environment.
- Previous construction or heavy equipment experience desired
