Tell me about this job!In this role, you will guide elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and other hands‑on learning activities at a Y Before and After‑School Enrichment (BASE) program. You will teach teamwork and social emotional learning while encouraging skill building, creative exploration, physical activity, and fun.
- Part‑time, onsite position
- Hours vary by school/location:
Monday‑Friday 6:45 am – start of school;
Monday‑Friday end of school – 6 pm. The Y provides full‑day programming on non‑school days and early release days.

Licensed School Age Programs require Mumps, Measles, and Rubella immunization in accordance with Department of Children, Youth and Family requirements.
Responsibilities- Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum in accordance with YMCA Youth Development goals.
- Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and provide a positive experience for each child.
- Provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing activities of groups of children.
- Communicate professionally day‑to‑day, confidential, and evaluative information with parents/guardians.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Assist in maintaining developmentally appropriate site appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
- Prepare and serve snacks; clean snack area.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Employee must talk or hear, frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. Qualifications- 16 years of age or older, 18 or older preferred.
- 1–2 years’ experience with children (camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying).
- Ability to model Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Experience planning and implementing group activities.
- Pre‑employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required;
Concentra options at no cost. - Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid.
- Clear Portable Background Check in statewide MERIT registry within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge and previous experience working with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Proficiency in any language in addition to English helpful.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
