General FunctionThe Senior APQP Quality Engineer will be supporting the New Product Development process to minimize the risk of product failures both in the manufacturing process and at the end‑user. Through use of continuous improvement, data analysis, and effective use of lessons learned, the Senior APQP Engineer will become an expert in product failure prevention at the early stages of development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Work side‑by‑side with Design and Project Engineering towards the development of new eyewear models that meet both the expected quality requirements and the expected development timelines.
- Using your manufacturing process knowledge, provide actionable feedback to the Design Engineering team on risk assessment of new models.
- Effectively present information to the Manufacturing teams on the expected quality performance of new model releases.
- Lead the analysis of product failures using systematic root cause analysis, problem solving techniques, and designed experiments.
- Drive the usage of risk reduction tools such as FMEA and prototype testing at the appropriate project checkpoints during the New Product Development process.
- Display excellent level of customer service when working with other departments.
- Gain familiarity with the regulatory requirements applicable to the eyewear industry and drive adherence to those requirements.
- Guide and mentor other APQP–Engineers in quality tool use, and risk analysis.
- Coordinate international teams for procedural alignment across businesses.
- Lead and present updates on DMAIC projects for process or product improvements.
- Responsible for ownership and reporting of yield related KPIs.
- Efficiently assemble and present reports using Excel and Minitab.
- Maintain a clean/safe work area.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
- BS Degree in an engineering field.
- 5+ years in Engineering field (Quality, Design, Manufacturing).
- 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with MS Project and strength in managing projects with high time pressures.
- Strong organizing and self‑prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Statistical Quality Tools (i.e., MSA, Cpk, SPC, Sampling Plans, Control Plans).
- Excellent customer service.
- Ability to lead Corrective and Preventive Actions using a systematic approach to Root Cause Analysis.
