Aboutthe Role
- Design and develop neutral beam injection systems, including ion sources, beam optics, vacuum systems and beam dumps
- Design high‑voltage components (100 kV–1 MV class systems)
- Develop thermal‑management solutions for high‑power‑density components
- Collaborate with physicists to integrate beam‑line components in the NB injector
- Prototype, test, and commission beam‑line systems
- Bachelor’s degree in design/mechanical engineering or a related field
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Charged particle beam systems
- Plasma sources, especially ion sources
- High‑voltage engineering
- Vacuum systems
- Good knowledge of Solid Works or Catia
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, or similar
- 5–10 years professional experience in an engineering role (design, analysis, test, or manufacturing)
- Experience with neutral beam injection systems or fusion devices
- Knowledge of:
- RF ion sources or negative ion generation
- High‑power flux dumps
- Magnetic confinement systems (tokamaks, stellarators)
- Hands‑on experience with:
- High‑power test systems
- Diagnostics (Langmuir probes, spectroscopy, beam diagnostics)
- High‑voltage systems
Compensation range: $135,000 – $160,000, with potential equity participation.
