Senior Neutral Beam Design Engineer

• Design and develop neutral beam injection systems, including ion sources, beam optics, vacuum systems and beam dumps
• Design high‑voltage components (100 kV–1 MV class systems)
• Develop thermal‑management solutions for high‑power‑density components
• Collaborate with physicists to integrate beam‑line components in the NB injector
• Prototype, test, and commission beam‑line systems

• Bachelor’s degree in design/mechanical engineering or a related field
• Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Charged particle beam systems
  • Plasma sources, especially ion sources
  • High‑voltage engineering
  • Vacuum systems
• Good knowledge of Solid Works or Catia
• Familiarity with simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, or similar
• 5–10 years professional experience in an engineering role (design, analysis, test, or manufacturing)

• Experience with neutral beam injection systems or fusion devices
• Knowledge of:
  • RF ion sources or negative ion generation
  • High‑power flux dumps
  • Magnetic confinement systems (tokamaks, stellarators)
• Hands‑on experience with:
  • High‑power test systems
  • Diagnostics (Langmuir probes, spectroscopy, beam diagnostics)
  • High‑voltage systems

Compensation range: $135,000 – $160,000, with potential equity participation.
