Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced R&D Lab Support Technician to provide end-user and technical support for desktops, laptops, laboratory computers, scientific applications, and specialized hardware within a research and development environment.
This role supports unique laboratory and engineering systems that require hands-on troubleshooting, documentation, security management, backup administration, and coordination with software and hardware vendors.
Key ResponsibilitiesImage, build, and configure desktops and laptops using the approved corporate image.
Install required software and configure local user profiles and administrative access.
Install, configure, and support laboratory, engineering, and scientific applications.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing, and workstation issues.
Troubleshoot specialized scientific applications and laboratory equipment.
Coordinate workstation relocations and equipment moves.
Work with hardware and software vendors to resolve complex issues and schedule warranty repairs.
Create and maintain documentation for hardware builds, software installations, and support procedures.
Update security and access logs for limited-access laboratory computers.
Manage and troubleshoot computer backups and Windows data backups.
Maintain hardware inventory and document incoming and outgoing equipment.
Create one-time administrative accounts and passwords when authorized.
Create Active Directory groups through Saviynt requests.
Test network drops and coordinate requests for new cabling.
Manage and troubleshoot Acronis disaster recovery solutions for laboratory systems.
Remediate security vulnerabilities and patch laboratory computers.
Manage local administrative access following established approval processes.
Support requests received through tickets, email, verbal instructions, and the Global Service Desk.
Required QualificationsMinimum of three years of desktop, laboratory, or end-user support experience
.
Experience imaging and configuring Windows desktops and laptops.
Experience installing and troubleshooting software and hardware.
Working knowledge of Active Directory, user access, and administrative permissions.
Experience supporting backups, disaster recovery, and security patching.
Ability to troubleshoot unique or nonrecurring technical issues.
Strong documentation, communication, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with users, vendors, and technical teams.
Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting research and development, laboratory, engineering, or scientific environments.
Experience with Saviynt, Acronis, or similar identity and disaster recovery tools.
Experience supporting specialized scientific applications and laboratory hardware.
Familiarity with network-drop testing and cabling coordination.
