The Credit Policy Manager reports to the Vice President of Credit Policy and serves as a dedicated execution resource within the Credit Policy Department, supporting company growth, product development, and evolving credit needs.
This role is responsible for hands‑on management and execution of credit policies, guidelines and product matrices across Agency and Non-Agency products. The position requires independent ownership of policy updates, version control, and guideline communication to ensure credit guidance remains accurate, consistent, and aligned with approved risk parameters.
The Credit Policy Manager also supports department initiatives and projects as directed by Credit Policy leadership.
Key Responsibilities Credit Policy Execution- Independently manage updates to credit policies, guidelines and product matrices.
- Translate Agency, GNMA, and Non-Agency updates into clear credit guidance.
- Draft and revise policy updates under direction of Credit Policy leadership.
- Promote consistent application of credit guidance across the organization.
- Maintain version control, effective dating, and documentation integrity of credit policy materials.
- Track and support progression of Credit Policy initiatives to ensure timely execution.
- Identify and escalating material policy questions or risks as appropriate.
- Monitor, and interpret Agency, GNMA and Non-Agency guideline updates.
- Draft internal credit guidance reflecting approved changes.
- Support timely implementation and company wide communication of credit policy updates.
- Develop and maintain clarification documents and reference materials.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of Agency, GNMA and Non-QM products.
- Support Credit Policy participation in new product development and enhancements.
- Coordinate Credit Policy deliverables to ensure product readiness.
- Partner cross-functionally to gather requirements and track approvals.
- Monitor milestones to support timely implementation.
- Ensure published credit policies, matrices, and guidelines are accurate, and current.
- Validate credit content before and after publication across internal and external platforms.
- Maintain centralized access to credit policy materials.
- 6+ years of mortgage lending experience with direct exposure to credit policy and product development; underwriting and credit risk experience a plus.
- Demonstrated multi-year experience drafting and maintaining guidelines and matrices.
- Strong working knowledge of Agency and Non-QM lending guidelines; GNMA experience preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives independently.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and written communication skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Encompass or similar LOS platforms.
