Prairie Hill Holdings is a growing private equity investment manager in net lease real estate (industrial & retail properties) and we are looking for a talented accounting professional to join our team in Lake Forest, IL.
The work will primarily be on-site at our office in Lake Forest, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to develop their career in the private equity & investment accounting fields, and thrive in an environment where organization, numbers, and accuracy are paramount. This individual will support financial, administrative and reporting functions for the firm’s investment entities and work across fund accounting, property accounting, tax, and compliance.
Prior education and/or experience in accounting is essential. Prior experience in investments and/or real estate is helpful but not required;
Prairie Hill can train these aspects provided the candidate has a strong accounting foundation.
- Prepare and maintain accounting records for GP entities, funds, and subsidiaries.
- Manage payroll for GP and fund subsidiaries.
- Process journal entries, perform reconciliations, and ensure timely closing of books.
- Prepare internal and external fund reports, including quarterly and annual statements.
- Coordinate reporting to custodians such as Charles Schwab and Inspira.
- Support investor relations with accurate, timely financial data.
- Perform CAM reconciliations.
- Handle various commercial property management functions.
- Issue payments to vendors.
- Deposit payments received.
- Record revenues and expenses.
- Work with external tax advisors to coordinate the preparation and filing of tax returns for funds, GP entities, and investment subsidiaries.
- Gather and review supporting documentation for tax filings.
- Support audit processes with external auditors.
- Assist with LP subscription process, including document review and investor communications.
- Maintain accurate investor records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience in an accounting role will be considered.
- Strong desire to work in the investment and real estate accounting field.
- Strong accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Familiarity with Quick Books accounting software.
- Interest in working across multiple operational areas within a private real estate fund.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment.
- Willingness to work onsite in Lake Forest, IL.
