Communications Intern
Lake Forest School District 115 is seeking a communications intern for the school year. The communications intern will perform job duties under the director of communications. The internship is 15-20 hours per week. Currently a student enrolled in a communications program. Interested in working collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and administrators in the school setting. Essential duties and responsibilities include leading planning and logistics for community engagement events, writing press releases, journalistic stories, invitations, and social media posts, building and maintaining relationships with local partners, vendors, parent organizations, school administrators, and civic leaders, taking pictures and creating videos for use on social media, websites, etc.,
providing general administrative and event support, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth through reflection and collaboration, and performing other job-related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor. Competencies include demonstrating the ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team, proficient use of Google Suite, outstanding communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including a positive, problem-solving, and service-minded attitude, strong writing and editing skills, demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to generate creative ideas in a collaborative manner, maintaining confidential information with professionalism and discretion, and adhering to board of education policies and procedures.
