Government Contracts Analyst in Lake Forest, IL - 60045 Position Overview
The Government Contracts Analyst is responsible for supporting the end-to-end contract lifecycle, analyzing spend against contract commitments, and delivering data-driven insights through advanced Excel-based reporting. This role partners cross-functionally with sales, legal, finance, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure contract compliance, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, and effectively manages multiple priorities while ensuring regulatory compliance and contract integrity.
Key Responsibilities Contract Lifecycle & Compliance- Support contracts from initiation through closeout, ensuring accuracy and policy alignment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including FAR/DFARS where applicable).
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and analyzing contract amendments, renewals, and pricing structures.
- Conduct pre-award and post-award compliance reviews.
- Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and analyze spend against contract terms, identifying variances and trends.
- Validate financial changes and communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Ensure billing and reconciliation align with contractual deliverables.
- Support commercial reviews and negotiation preparation.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based dashboards and inventory/spend reports.
- Analyze ordering trends, pricing discrepancies, invoicing patterns, and operational risks.
- Perform complex data analysis to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Review procurement and supply chain data for accuracy and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in contract analysis, financial analysis, or program management within a regulated industry.
- Experience supporting government, federal, healthcare, or education contracts.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data modeling).
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Experience identifying and mitigating operational or contractual risks.
- Strong presentation and executive reporting skills.
