- Instructional Excellence:
Design and implement engaging lessons aligned with ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, focusing on the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational - Target Language Immersion:
Maintain a classroom environment where French is used at least 90% of the time by both teacher and students, employing "comprehensible input" strategies (gestures, visuals, and cognates) to ensure student understanding - Intercultural Communicative Competence:
Integrate cultural products, practices, and perspective into daily lessons, helping students investigate and interact with the diverse cultures of the Francophone world - Authentic Resource Integration:
Curate and adapt real-world materials such as infographics, social media posts, podcasts, and news snippets to provide students with a "real-world" context for language use - Classroom Culture:
Establish a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages risk-taking and consistent target language use - Assessment & Feedback:
Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments; provide timely, constructive feedback to help students move up the proficiency scale - Collaboration:
Work closely with the World Language department and grade-level teams to align curriculum and share best practices - Communication:
Maintain professional and proactive communication with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and program goals - Professional Growth:
Stay current with research-based instructional strategies and trends in world language pedagogy
- A current Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle School French endorsement
- 5 or more years of French teaching experience at the middle school level - preferred
- Proficiency in the French language (oral and written)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
