Little Scouts Pre‑K Teacher (Job )

Position Responsibilities
  • Create and implement engaging, play‑based lesson plans aligned with Illinois Early Learning Standards
  • Foster children's social–emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Observe, assess, and document children's progress
  • Collaborate with co‑teachers, families, and administration
  • Ensure compliance with DCFS licensing standards and program policies
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings

  • Follow all Little Scouts Preschool, DCFS, and Lake Forest High School policies and procedures
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and program events
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, colleagues, and administrators
  • Maintain accurate classroom documentation and child records
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team culture
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually
Schedule

Monday–Friday, variable rotating schedule, a combination of Open Shift (6:30 AM-3:00 PM) and Closing Shift (8:45 AM-5:15 PM)

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree with at least 6 semester hours of Early Childhood Education coursework, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
  • DCFS Teacher Qualified
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare center
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching in a Preschool or Pre‑K classroom
Working Conditions

This is an active role that includes lifting (up to 50 lb occasionally), sitting on the floor, and frequent movement throughout the day while caring for children.
