Library Aide

Lake Forest Library is seeking a part-time Library Aide to shelve materials primarily in the Youth Services area.

The successful candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with children and their caregivers, as well as library staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, takes pride in keeping materials in their proper place, and appreciates working in a lively, child-focused environment.

• Accurately shelve library materials using alphabetic, numeric, and alphanumeric classification systems
• Sort and prepare materials for shelving
• Read shelves for accuracy; identify and correct misfiled or misplaced items
• Re-shelve browsed or returned materials
• Shift and move collections to make space for new or returning items
• Maintain cleanliness and order of shelves and materials (light housekeeping)
• Locate and pull items from assigned lists
• Special projects as needed

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of order
• Patient and adaptable in a dynamic environment (materials may need to be straightened or re-shelved multiple times)
• Team player with a pleasant, positive attitude
• Enjoys working in a space designed for children and families

Tuesdays, Sundays and alternate Saturdays

Average 8-12 per week with the option for occasional additional hours

$15.33 - $16.99 per hour hiring range depending on qualifications, experience, and internal pay equity
