Description: The Family and Consumer Sciences teacher is responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults. The teacher leads, coordinates, and develops an interdisciplinary approach to Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Salary & Benefits: Starting rate: $299.84 per day. No additional benefits.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree; current State of Illinois teaching certificate registered in Lake County with endorsement in family and consumer sciences; ability to plan and teach appropriate grade-level curriculum; ability to establish collaborative relationships with teaching staff; experience teaching family and consumer sciences topics; strong family and consumer sciences experience and skills; experience teaching middle school students (preferred).

Personal and Professional Qualities: Must possess ability to work tactfully and effectively with students, teachers, administrators, other employees and the public; display evidence of an educational philosophy in agreement with that of the school and district; understand theories of learning related to the district’s program; communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
