- Must hold certification as a Special Education Teacher from the Delaware Department of Education.
- Current full-time employee at the location requiring the duties.
School Principal (or assistant) with consultation from the Special Programs Supervisor.
JOB GOALTo serve as a liaison between Building Administration and staff to provide and assist with the implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies that promote and implement effective inclusion models to support the learning and growth of students identified with special needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Conducts building level Special Education meetings as necessary.
- Administers necessary tests within the special education screening process. Effort will be made to provide adequate time to administer these tests.
- Assumes team leadership at IPRD meetings in the absence of the principal(s).
- Spot-checks special education records to determine if they are in order for audit purposes.
- Assists the principal in completing the L.D. Observation Form.
- Assists the principal in preparation of the Special Education department budget.
- Coordinates the scheduling and placement of Special Education children in a combined effort with other teachers and principal(s).
- Assists the principal to assure accurate special education figures for the September 30th Unit Count, or any other data required by the principal or district office personnel.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of Special Education materials.
- Assists the principal in orientation for Special Education personnel.
- Attends chair level meetings as requested.
- Serves on the district Special Education Council.
- Coordinates the "inclusion" process when applicable.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal that relate to this position.
Terms are in accordance with provisions of the Negotiate Agreement on EPER employment.
EVALUATIONPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Negotiated Agreement on EPER evaluations.
