Responsibilities- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in opto‑mechanical engineering across mechanical design, optics, imaging, and precision machining.
- Design opto‑mechanical components, including lens barrels, housings, bonding, and mounting techniques, and conduct analytical studies of thermal, environmental, shock, vibration, and system integration performance.
- Lead design, research, development, and process upscaling for new medical device products.
- Investigate and evaluate existing technologies, proposing new methodologies, materials, machines, or processes for ophthalmic medical device development.
- Design, assemble, align, measure, test, analyze, and troubleshoot diagnostic and visualization devices.
- Understand and integrate optomechanical, electromechanical actuators, and sensors within complex subsystems.
- Generate detailed fabrication drawings with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Support prototyping, testing, pilot builds, V&V, risk assessment, and ramp‑up to production release.
- Maintain documentation and design control through PECN, ECN, ECP, and PLM (Windchill).
- Develop assembly and alignment fixtures; create manufacturing assembly (MAP) and manufacturing testing (MTP) processes.
- Support concurrent engineering, design control, and transition to manufacturing.
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams—optics, mechanical, electrical, software, QA, industrial design, and manufacturing—to ensure seamless product development.
