Responsibilities

The Director, Human Resources
Operations reports to the Executive Vice President
- Human Resources and is responsible for the overall direction, planning and execution of Human Resources strategies across multiple plant locations for a Business Unit (BU). This individual is responsible for providing leadership enabling a workplace culture aligned to our values and driving operational excellence. This position will act as the strategic HR Business Partner to the respective Business Unit Preside and Operations Vice President for the assigned BU and have dotted line responsibility for the Human Resources Managers within their respective plants.

  • Acts as a business partner to the Business Unit which also includes working closely with key stakeholders and functional partners to deliver company strategies and results. Responsible for developing and/or delivering HR strategy and tactics for their Business Unit while ensuring consistency as needed across the organization.
  • Consistently collaborate and plan across functional units to ensure alignment regarding priorities and deliverables.
  • Build a high performing Human Resources team by mentoring, coaching and developing Human Resources Managers/Representatives so they can act as leaders in their respective plants. Manage and drive accountability for key HR and business metrics.
  • Champion and build a strong and aligned workplace where employees feel heard, respected, have a sense a belonging, are treated equitably, and can reach their full potential.
  • Work with BU operations leaders to assess organizational capabilities and design effective organization structures to deliver business strategies. Ensure the business has the right talent in the right position at the right time. Select, retain and develop talent.
  • Act as a business partner and subject matter expert with Operations Leaders to develop change plans and drive operational improvements.
  • Serve as both a manager and leader for attracting, developing and retaining talent.
  • Provide direction for compliance with all Company, Federal, state and local laws in all areas of responsibility while driving best practices.
  • Provide oversight, support and guidance to operations leadership teams for employee and labor relations.
  • Delivering other assigned HR projects and initiatives.
  • Confidentiality is a key part of this role; employee information should be kept private as required by pertinent laws and regulations.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional progressive experience in Human Resources leadership roles.

Preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Prior experience as an HR Manager in a union environment preferred.
  • CPG/Manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prior team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching and mentoring a diverse team.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
