Facilities Engineer II – Health and Fitness Center (Full Time, Evenings)

Job DescriptionThis is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) located at Lake Forest Hospital Health and Fitness Center. It is a 2nd shift position with a Monday‑to‑Friday schedule, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Responsibilities- Operate and assist in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minor supervision.
- Operate high‑pressure boilers and related equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water and water heating systems, generators, electrical switch gear, and energy management systems.
- Perform safety checks on plant equipment and conduct repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Clean and paint equipment, piping, and associated accessories in the power plant and mechanical rooms.
- Analyze boiler, chiller, cooling tower, and all closed‑loop systems chemically.
- Conduct chemical analysis tests and add the correct amount of chemicals to maintain prescribed balances in boiler, cooling tower, and closed‑loop systems.
- Properly dispose of chemical drums and use proper safety equipment while working with chemicals.
- Respond to plant emergencies and know the location of firefighting equipment.
- Respond to service requests and perform problem assessment, troubleshooting, correction, and documentation.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with organizational and regulatory protocols, policies, and standards.
- Operate facility equipment and systems on a routine basis and as needed, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist contractors/vendor teams with repairs, maintenance, and construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of relevant building maintenance experience.
- Technical training in the maintenance field; HVAC/R trade school certification or equivalent.
- Licensed as a Stationary Engineer or the ability to obtain licensing within one year of hire.
- Valid driver’s license required (must provide Driving Abstract).
- Physical demands: lifting/carrying up to 70 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Hospital or military experience.
- One year of training in Boiler Maintenance.
- Current universal refrigerant certification.
