If you are looking to build a strong career, we have an opportunity for you! We are searching for a Environmental, Health and Safety Director to join our team located at our plant in Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities

As an Environmental, Health and Safety Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within the Reynolds Cooking Business Unit (BU). This position is responsible for leading the EHS program for four US manufacturing sites and one Toronto-based Canadian site, which include heavy industrial manufacturing and CPG manufacturing environments. This role involves developing and implementing policies and strategies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, improve workplace safety, and minimize environmental impact.

The EHS Director will collaborate with the Reynolds BU plants to foster a culture of safety and sustainability.

  • Strategy Development
    • Develop and implement EHS strategies aligned with the company’s goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Establish EHS objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Compliance Management
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Risk Assessment
    • Lead risk assessments and ensure the identification, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans for identified risks and incidents.
  • Training and Development
    • Create and oversee EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
    • Foster a safety culture through education and engagement initiatives.
  • Incident Management
    • Oversee investigations of workplace incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective measures are implemented.
    • Maintain records of incidents, injuries, and fatalities, and report them to appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Sustainability Initiatives
    • Drive initiatives to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption within the manufacturing process.
    • Promote sustainability practices and enhance the company’s environmental responsibility.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and mentor the EHS team, promoting professional development and ensuring a high level of performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Communicate EHS performance, trends, and improvement opportunities to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and internal reviews.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in EHS management within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing EHS programs and driving cultural change.
  • Experience using software systems to manage EHS programs such as Gensuite a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) tools required.
