Director of Equipment OperationsDestination Geneva National is seeking an experienced Director of Equipment Operations to lead and elevate equipment performance across our multi-course property.
Reporting directly to the Director of Grounds, this role provides operational leadership for all equipment maintenance functions, ensuring our fleet, facilities, and teams consistently support championship-level playing conditions.
This is not simply a mechanical role. We are looking for a leader who builds systems, develops people, sets performance standards, and creates accountability across the entire equipment operation.
Why This Role Is DifferentOversee equipment maintenance operations across multiple courses and facilities, leading a team of technicians while establishing consistent standards and processes.
Operational AuthorityDirect the day-to-day performance, preventative maintenance systems, shop organization, safety programs, and fleet readiness for all turf equipment.
Partnership with Grounds LeadershipWork closely with the Director of Grounds to align equipment performance with agronomic priorities, tournament preparation, and seasonal operational demands.
Culture & Team DevelopmentMentor direct reports, which may include an equipment manager, mechanic, assistant mechanic, and/or apprentice, implement training systems, establish clear expectations, and build a culture of professionalism and pride.
Championship-Level StandardsEnsure precision mower setup, reel quality, and equipment performance that consistently support premier playing conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead all equipment maintenance operations across the property.
Supervise and develop equipment managers and technician teams.
Establish preventive maintenance programs and performance benchmarks.
Ensure fleet readiness to meet daily operations and tournament-level standards.
Manage departmental operating budget, parts inventory, and supply controls.
Oversee shop organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
Standardize reel setup, mower quality control, and equipment documentation.
Coordinate vendor relationships and service partnerships.
Collaborate with agronomy leadership on operational planning and scheduling.
Identify process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce downtime.

QualificationsMinimum 10+ years of progressive experience in turf equipment management.
Prior supervisory or multi-team leadership experience required.
Strong mechanical expertise in:
Hydraulic and electrical systems.
Reel grinding, mower setup, and precision adjustments.
Specialized turf equipment (aerifiers, verticutters, sprayers, etc.).
Experience preparing equipment for professional or championship-level play preferred.
Knowledge of business practices related to golf course operations.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
