Requires non-standard, rotating shiftwork to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The primary work schedule is continuous shift work at 48 hours on, 96 hours off.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
- Arizona Paramedic Certification OR National Registry Paramedic Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted).
- Firefighter I & II Certification issued by a recognized State or Federal Certifying agency.
FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC TRAINEE SALARY RANGE: $20.05 - $28.28/Hourly; DOQ
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
- Arizona State Certification as an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted). Candidate will be required to attend a Paramedic course and obtain a NREMTP certification at the discretion of the Fire Department.
- Firefighter I & II Certification issued by a recognized State or Federal Certifying agency.
PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER TRAINEE SALARY RANGE: $20.05 - $28.28/Hourly; DOQ
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
- Arizona Paramedic Certification OR National Registry Paramedic Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted). Candidate will be hired as "Trainee" and will be required to attend a Fire Academy and obtain certification in a timeframe established at hire.
If selected, Paramedic / Firefighter trainee candidates must provide at the time of offer acceptance, a current valid CPAT certification issued by the National Testing Network (NTN) or another licensed CPAT provider. CPAT certification must be completed within the past twelve (12) months of offer acceptance date.

Lake Havasu City Fire Department has partnered with the National Testing Network (NTN) to administer the written exam and Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). You must schedule your written exam and (CPAT) with the National Testing Network (NTN) directly by visiting their website at Candidates may schedule testing at any of the testing facilities; however, testing must be completed before being considered for testing.
Lake Havasu City must be a chosen department to view your test scores as outlined on the National Testing Network website. Testing with the National Testing Network must have been completed within the last twelve (12) months with an overall score of 70% or better.

Job DescriptionWorking under the supervision of the Captain or higher-ranking fire personnel, the incumbent performs duties to prevent and extinguish fires, protect lives and properties, maintain firefighting equipment, respond to other emergencies, and keep equipment and personnel in a state of readiness for such emergencies. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound judgment, independence, and initiative and perform according to the Fire Department and City safety rules, operating policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.
EssentialFunctions
Responds to emergency medical incidents; analyzes patient needs and establishes priorities for treatment; administers lifesaving procedures immediately.
Respond to fire alarms, rescue calls, and other emergency incidents; perform the full range of fire suppression duties including laying and connecting hose; maintaining fire apparatus; directing water and chemical streams to suppress fire; raising and climbing ladders; ventilating burning structures; and entering buildings to evacuate occupants.
Provide Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support treatment as required by standing protocol or E.R. orders; may administer EKG monitoring, IV fluids, defibrillation, intubation, extrication, bleeding control, oxygen, splinting, and other treatment as required.
