The SSC STEM Coach at Brazosport College will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the learning experience of students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This part-time position is designed to provide academic coaching and mentoring to students, helping them to develop effective study habits, understand complex concepts, and achieve their academic goals.

• Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions to students in STEM subjects, tailoring support to individual learning needs.
• Assist students in developing effective study strategies, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students who may benefit from additional support and develop personalized coaching plans.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them improve their understanding and performance in STEM courses.
• Organize and facilitate workshops and seminars focused on STEM topics to enhance student engagement and learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to college policies.
• Stay updated on the latest educational practices and STEM advancements to provide current and relevant coaching to students.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge in STEM education.

• Completion of courses covered with a GPA of 3.0 and higher (preferred courses completed at Brazosport College)
• Good academic standing at Brazosport College

• Core STEM disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering)
• Instructional methodologies for coaching and supplemental instruction
• Basic computer literacy and functional knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365

• Strong knowledge of STEM subjects and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to design and facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
