SSC STEM COACH

Job Purpose:

The SSC STEM Coach at Brazosport College will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the learning experience of students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This part-time position is designed to provide academic coaching and mentoring to students, helping them to develop effective study habits, understand complex concepts, and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions to students in STEM subjects, tailoring support to individual learning needs.

Assist students in developing effective study strategies, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students who may benefit from additional support and develop personalized coaching plans.

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them improve their understanding and performance in STEM courses.

Organize and facilitate workshops and seminars focused on STEM topics to enhance student engagement and learning.

Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to college policies.

Stay updated on the latest educational practices and STEM advancements to provide current and relevant coaching to students.

Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge in STEM education.

Required

Education:

Completion of courses covered with a GPA of 3.0 and higher (preferred courses completed at Brazosport College)
Good academic standing at Brazosport College

Required Experience:

Core STEM disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering)
Instructional methodologies for coaching and supplemental instruction

Basic computer literacy and functional knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365

Strong knowledge of STEM subjects and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.

Ability to design and facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences.

Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
