Job Summary /Basic Function:

Adjunct Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on an as needed basis. These positions are filled prior to or during each semester and are contingent upon the needs of the College.

Brazosport College accepts application materials for pool positions on a continuing basis throughout the year from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis.

  • Reports to the Division Chair of Mathematics and Sciences
  • Teaches chemistry courses and labs using traditional and alternative delivery methods to assist students to master concepts. Example courses are:
    Applied Instrument Analysis, Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry and associated labs.
  • All laboratory curricula and assessments are designed and evaluated by faculty holding a master’s degree or higher.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with individuals and students from diverse cultural backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups.
  • Experiences that enhance one’s value to the institution and students
  • Works with faculty in Chemistry and Process Technology Departments
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum requirements are a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Chemistry.
  • For labs, minimum requirements are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Special considerations may be given to employment or educational qualifications if Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met.
  • Teaching course(s) face-to-face
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with such Technology as Microsoft Office, Zoom, TEAMS, Learning Management Systems, docu-camera, and computers.
  • Shows continued growth in teaching and through training
