Responsibilities

  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to perform effective problem analysis and root cause elimination, and evaluate solutions for leveraging across the company.
  • Work closely with the Mechanical Coordinator to ensure jobs receive technical and field experience during troubleshooting, procedures, repair plans, etc.
  • Own and execute smaller expense projects as assigned.
  • Provide expertise on troubleshooting failures and repairs, and ensure repairs, repair techniques, and equipment‑specific training are documented.
  • Provide maintainability input into Predictive and Preventative Maintenance (PPM) strategy and support the PPM coordinator, reviewing spare parts lists for existing equipment.
  • Support operations in the development of operating procedures (e.g., proper steps for starting/stopping a pump).
  • Serve as maintenance engineering resources during the evaluation and development of plant equipment criticality list and strategies.
  • Provide engineering input to planners’ job plans.
  • During turnaround work, provide input on development of work orders for critical equipment requiring engineering review.
  • Write and support the development of maintenance procedures.
  • Work with the Mechanical Coordinator on following jobs internally and externally to ensure quality repairs.
  • Provide leadership and direction in day‑to‑day decision making for the operating area while networking with engineers on site and within the business.
  • For process‑critical equipment, ensure work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc.; provide onsite/off‑site support for deviations.
  • Share on‑call responsibilities with other plant personnel and coordinate areas of responsibility during planned shutdown and maintenance activities.
  • Apply skills and technical knowledge to develop job scopes and plans; support execution during projects, turnarounds, shutdowns, and start‑ups.
  • Provide engineering support on rotating and fixed equipment in assigned areas.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industrial mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team.
  • Flexibility to work off hours to support plant operations.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC and possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Experience with pump system evaluations and improvements.
  • Experience with vessel evaluations and communication of improvements/repairs.
  • Experience managing vendor proposals, quotations, contractor bids, and project solution development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of API standards.
  • Proficiency with SAP (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (required).
  • 40% of work inside a desk, 60% in the plant.
  • No travel required.
Physical Requirements
  • Work with hazardous or flammable chemicals with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment.
  • Work around or manually interact with heavy equipment.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work in environments requiring frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as fire‑protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel‑toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
  • Work in tight or confined spaces.
  • Climb ladders or stairs.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
