JobPurpose and Summary
Pharmacy Technicians support our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver operational and service excellence within the store. They serve as the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations. Technicians apply Standard Operating Procedures, best practices, and effective communication throughout their shifts, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists in improving patient health.
- Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations, and resolving or escalating patient issues.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and bin inventories.
- Support a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and expanding clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to stores within the market.
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and patient privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Review and document patient information for each vaccine.
- Manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements concerning age, education, licensure, and certification; minimum age 16 if not specified by the board; high school diploma or equivalent unless otherwise required.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state (provide details as appropriate).
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Focus and attention: concentrate on tasks for periods, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription information for patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people, respond appropriately to patient reactions.
- Communication

use and understand verbal and written communication; practice active listening. - Mathematical Reasoning: calculate tablet counts, day’s supply, and quantity needed for prescriptions.
- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetition, precise machine operation, stoop, vision acuity, and handling loads up to 20 lbs.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and travel across the market to meet business needs.
