Health And Safety Technician
Location:
Lake Jackson, TX
Salary: $81,000 - $108,000
Schedule:
4-10's
Focus:
The Health And Safety Technician will work closely with the assigned organization, contractors, site EHS leadership, and other members of the Texas Operations EHS team, to ensure full compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, enhance EHS awareness, and improve EH&S performance.
Health And Safety Technician
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for health and safety compliance, providing technical leadership and guidance to operations, engineering, maintenance, and contractor teams.
- Partner with operations to strengthen Life Critical Standards and high-risk work controls, including LOTO, confined space, hot work, and working at heights.
- Conduct compliance audits, workplace inspections, and field assessments to verify adherence to OSHA, EPA, Process Safety Management (PSM), and corporate health and safety requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and areas of concern to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement preventive measures that reduce risk and improve performance.
- Provide technical expertise, coaching, and mentoring to employees and leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and ownership of health and safety processes across the site.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
* in EHS, Quality, Safety, Security or related discipline; OR, - Associates degree
* in EHS, Quality, Safety, Security or related discipline and 2+ years of H&S experience in a chemical plant; OR, - High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years relevant experience in a chemical plant with a focus on EHS improvements
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of all EHS regulations, standards, processes, and tools; plant/department operations and processes; root cause analysis processes
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
