Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable

The Opportunity

The Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of invoices, payments, and expense-related transactions across multiple companies and currencies. This role supports the integrity of the accounts payable function by maintaining organized records, reconciling vendor and credit card accounts, assisting with monthly close activities, and partnering with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues efficiently and support overall accounting operations

This is an IN-OFFICE position, Located in Lake Mary, FL.

What You'll Do

Accounts Payable

• Process accounts payable invoices in both USD and CAD currencies within the accounting system across multiple companies, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Work with team leaders to ensure proper documentation, coding, and approvals are received prior to payment.
• Prepare weekly aging reports for review and payment approval.
• Process weekly payment runs, including printing checks and setting up ACH and wire payments.
• Respond to all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements to the vendor sub ledger monthly to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain organized vendor files and records, including timely filing and document management.
• Reconcile corporate credit card accounts on a monthly basis.
• Collaborate with the accounting team on monthly close processes and resolve AP-related inquiries as needed.

Accounting Support

• Perform detailed audits of employee expense reports to ensure compliance with the Company's Travel & Entertainment (T&E) Policy.
• Assist with basic accounting tasks, including monthly general ledger reconciliations as assigned.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and departmental files.

OTHER DUTIES

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Village Farms International, Inc. from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

What You Bring

Education

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in full cycle accounts payable.
• Experience preparing and filing IRS 1099 Forms preferred.
• GL reconciliation experience

Professional Skills

• Strong demonstrated ability to use MS Office products and accounting software; AX & Acumatica experience a plus.
