Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
This role requires a seasoned mechanical engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for gas turbine auxiliary mechanical equipment. The position involves collaborating with the Equipment Engineering Team to provide technical insights, training junior engineers, and overseeing the design, development, and enhancement of both existing and new equipment. Attendance at project meetings to update on the status of drawings, technical specifications, or other pending items is also part of the job.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with the Equipment Engineering Team to address technical queries.
+ Train junior engineers on various equipment.
+ Oversee the design, development, and improvement of equipment.
+ Attend project meetings to provide updates on technical specifications and drawings.
+ Interpret P&IDs and other technical materials to develop project requirements.
+ Prepare supporting calculations for proper equipment sizing.
+ Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical equipment.
+ Provide technical recommendations for vendor selection.
+ Review vendor designs for compliance with code, contract, and internal requirements.
+ Conduct technical qualification of vendors.
+ Analyze test results and develop standard drawings and specifications.
+ Develop design improvements and adhere to engineering deliverables schedule.
+ Meet regularly with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are met.
+ Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
+ Integrate design requirements from the parent company.
+ Establish processes and procedures for resource optimization and high-quality design packages.
+ Develop concepts to reduce system costs and ensure code requirements are incorporated into system design.
+ Provide regular status updates to management.
+ Interpret customer contract technical requirements and incorporate them into system design.
+ Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
+ Prepare correspondence to vendors and other engineering groups.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in mechanical engineering, specifically with writing specifications for equipment.
+ Proficiency in equipment sizing and selection, including heat exchangers, pumps, filters, fans, and compressors.
+ Design skills using AutoCAD.
+ Experience in oil and gas industry, mechanical design, and equipment selection.
+ Knowledge of gas turbine, steam turbine, air inlet, filter, snubber, fire protection, and enclosure systems.
+ Proficiency in using HTRI software.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
+ Minimum fifteen years of technical experience required.
+
Experience with skid manufacturing, rotating and static equipment, especially within an EPC environment, is preferred.
+ International business experience, especially in power plants or with Japanese-related projects, is advantageous.
+ Proficiency in English for reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical documents.
+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.
+ Beneficial language skills include Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese.
+ Proficiency in MS Office applications and knowledge of database, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow-charts.
Work Environment
The office is located in Lake Mary, serving as the North American HQ for Plant Engineering. This multi-disciplinary office includes mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, controls, and project management teams, comprising over 500 professionals. The environment promotes collaboration across various engineering disciplines.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
