Admin Support Clerk – II/ Tax Analyst
Location:
Lake Mary, Florida (Hybrid – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite) Duration: 5 Months Contract Job Overview:
We are seeking a Tax Analyst specializing in State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) and payroll tax compliance. This role is responsible for managing the integrity of payroll tax remittances, SUI rate administration, and periodic reporting activities. The Tax Analyst will proactively engage with taxing agencies, execute quarterly and year-end tax procedures, oversee critical control reports, and ensure accurate tax filings while minimizing tax risk exposure.
The position also requires collaboration with Global Payroll Tax analysts to maintain compliance procedures and improve process accuracy. Responsibilities:
Manage third-party vendor inquiries by analyzing state unemployment insurance agency correspondence, including fact-finding requests, account closures, and rate adjustments. Procure outstanding and upcoming SUI rates from state agencies for January 1 and July 1 release cycles. Conduct state-level research and outreach regarding outstanding protest rate balances. Utilize annual amnesty programs to resolve open accounts and prevent penalties or future unemployment insurance rate increases.
Validate Small Groups Interunit transfers on a weekly basis and Strategic transfers quarterly through Control Reporting. Ensure employee residential and work jurisdictions maintain proper business qualifications and facilitate the submission of required transfer documentation to state authorities. Generate weekly People Soft upload files using automated bot download reports to ensure State Unemployment Insurance rates are updated according to vendor-provided rate information.
Manage SUI snapshot activities, including reviewing system discrepancies and preparing discussion points for vendor meetings. Maintain the Joint Account and Voluntary Rate Contribution Tracker by entering and monitoring state agency rate letter information. Analyze and summarize potential savings opportunities from voluntary rate contributions for executive review and approval. Execute quarterly closing procedures, including State/Private Plan Type validation, ADP Tax Filing Profile Change reporting, and State Unemployment reconciliations.
Perform year-end closing activities, including preparing People Soft uploads for updated state wage bases and tax rates effective for January payrolls, and completing all required year-end checklist activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of four years of equivalent professional experience. At least three years of relevant experience in multistate tax environments and large-scale system tax operations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and critical deliverables. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment. Strong relationship-building skills with Payroll, Tax, and external taxing agencies.
Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Docs, Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). Experience leveraging emerging AI tools responsibly to enhance data analysis, research, and communication. Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical-thinking capabilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Experience with accounting and payroll applications such as Workday, ADP, and HCM People Soft. Self-motivated professional with the ability to take initiative and work across organizational boundaries. Desired
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional weekend work may be required during peak tax processing periods, including quarter-end and year-end activities. Notes:
