Machine Operator
Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for supporting efficient and safe molding operations. This role performs a wide range of production activities including plastic molding, material handling, machine setup, first-piece approvals, quality checks, and general housekeeping. Machine Operators are expected to understand molding processes, follow work instructions, meet quality and production standards, and support team operations, including providing coverage for the Zone Lead when needed.
A willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to business needs is essential.
- Follow all company safety rules and regulations, including proper use of required PPE.
- Operate molding machines and related equipment in accordance with work instructions and training.
- Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and routine job monitoring.
- Install molds and assist with job setups and first-piece approvals.
- Read and understand work orders, job travelers, and part-specific work instructions.
- Monitor parts during production and identify defects or imperfections.
- Perform secondary operations as required, including deflashing, trimming, cutting, drilling, packaging, and grinding scrap for recycling.
- Use checking and cooling fixtures as required.
- Conduct pressure checks and follow established procedures.
- Properly use mold release, install venting, service molds, weigh shot weights, and handle various material types.
- Accurately label all containers and mark material buckets with required information.
- Maintain tool boards and keep machines and work areas clean and organized.
- Perform general housekeeping of assigned work areas.
- Routinely use signal lights or other communication methods to request assistance when needed.
- Report maintenance concerns, mold issues, or equipment problems to the supervisor or Lead.
- Meet established quality standards, production cycles, and/or required output per arm.
- Work scheduled overtime as required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of fire safety equipment and emergency machine shutdown procedures.
- Assist and provide coverage for the Zone Lead as needed.
