Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Communications & Events Specialist (Conference Support) for a mission-driven nonprofit membership association serving public organizations throughout Oregon. This is an onsite temporary opportunity based in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with an anticipated assignment running from September 2026 through January 2027.

From conference registration and event communications to speaker coordination and attendee support, you'll help ensure a seamless experience during one of the organization's busiest and most impactful seasons.

- Build, test, maintain, and troubleshoot conference registration processes, including registration paths, pricing, sessions, workflows, and attendee experience.
- Coordinate conference logistics by supporting attendee registration, hotel room blocks, speaker scheduling, sponsor and exhibitor registration, and event communications.
- Respond to attendee inquiries, process registration updates, maintain accurate records, and resolve registration or system issues with exceptional customer service.
- Create and distribute event communications and Mailchimp while tracking campaign deadlines and supporting internal communications.
- Generate reports, maintain CRM data, monitor registration analytics, and ensure data accuracy throughout the conference planning process.
- Provide administrative and operational support for the events and communications team while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting conferences, events, registration management, communications, or administrative operations.
- Familiarity with Cvent, event registration platforms, CRM systems, Mailchimp, or the ability to quickly learn new technology.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written communication and customer service skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams, speakers, sponsors, and event participants.
This temporary opportunity offers $37.00 per hour. The assignment begins with approximately 20 to 30 hours per week in September for training and transition, increases to 25 to 35 hours per week during October and November, and grows to approximately 37.5 hours per week during December and January as conference activity reaches its peak. Equipment is provided, and the client is committed to setting the successful candidate up for success through training and knowledge transfer.
