Position: ID 6705- Drama Teacher - 0.5 FTE for 191 days/year

Job Summary

Position provides instructional activities and lessons to a wide variety of students. Activities and lessons reflect state standards, district curricula, lesson objectives, and student academic achievement goals. The teacher administers classroom, district, and state assessments and maintains a safe and productive classroom environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements developmentally appropriate instructional activities and lessons that reflect state standards, district curricula, lesson objectives, and student academic achievement goals.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of instructional activities and lessons and modifies pace and content as needed.
  • Presents lessons and activities individually and in groups using a variety of visual, auditory, kinetic activities, and electronic devices.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades formal and informal assessments, analyzes results, and adjusts lesson plans accordingly. Collects, records, and maintains data including attendance and student grades, and prepares report cards and progress reports.
  • Communicates orally, in writing, and electronically with students and parents about behavior and academic progress. Schedules parent conferences as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains classroom rules and standards of student behavior, working with the principal, staff, and parents on individual student behavior and discipline issues.
  • Trains, assigns, and monitors education paraprofessionals regarding classroom academic and behavior goals, daily activities, and record-keeping requirements; adjusts delegated tasks as necessary.
  • Observes, evaluates, and refers students who need additional services and support.
  • Works in professional collaborative groups with other teachers on issues related to implementing effective content instruction and assessment.
  • Communicates regularly with students and parents/guardians about academic performance.
  • Adapts instructional activities and lessons for exceptional learners (TAG), students with diverse cultural and social backgrounds, and students with Section 504 plans, behavior plans, or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in conflict management and dispute resolution techniques.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all district policies and procedures.
  • Maintains consistent, daily, and punctual attendance.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operates office equipment, including audio-visual equipment, telephones, and photocopy machines.
  • Merges classroom furniture and organizes the environment to enhance learning.
  • Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings, and other assigned meetings; participates in professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
  • Provides staff development activities during in-service meetings.
  • Serves on building and district committees and councils as assigned.
  • Communicates district, school, and departmental policies and procedures to students, staff, parents, and patrons.
  • Supervises students on school grounds, during field trips, and at various school functions.
  • Reports safety, sanitary, fire hazards, vandalism, thefts, and errant wildlife issues to the principal and appropriate authorities.
Other Requirements
  • Consistently follows all applicable federal and state laws, and district policies, rules, and supervisor directions.
  • Observes ergonomics of sedentary office work, including placement of computers and monitors, and sitting alignment.
  • Observes proper lifting techniques and other safety strategies to avoid accidents and personal injury.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education and/or

    Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Education required;
      Master's preferred.
    • Valid Oregon teacher license with necessary endorsements required.
    • Three (3) years of teaching experience preferred; demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development required.
